Fellow-in-Training (FIT) prepares the participant to become an independent Fellow practitioner qualified to train and supervise others in the Orton-Gillingham Approach as well as provide instruction for the learner with dyslexia (Tier 3). It is important to recognize that the 3 year requirement is the minimum number of years.
Practicum: 300 hours of supervised practicum over a minimum of 3 academic years beyond the 300 hours at Certified for a total of 600 hours. The practicum includes participation in a minimum of 3 complete trainings over the 3 year period including Associate and Certified trainings.
Prerequisites: Master’s Degree in any area of study from an accredited institution and Certified level membership in the Academy. Experience teaching students of various ages and learning profiles. Evidence of continuing professional growth and development in the field of dyslexia beyond Certified level.
