This course provides the knowledge base for individuals to use the Orton-Gillingham Approach in a 1:1 setting. The Associate Training Course provides the rationale for using the OG Approach with individuals with dyslexia. Components of the course include the brain basis for reading and the essential components of evidence-based reading instruction. It provides a diagnostic-prescriptive approach to assessment, instructional sequences, and lesson planning and delivery for the individual learner. It does not include a practicum, which is required for Academy membership. The practicum can be arranged on request after the coursework is completed.This course offers college credit for an extra fee.
Practicum: The practicum would be contracted with the instructor for an additional cost. Additional course hours will be completed during practicum. Completion of coursework and practicum prepare the trainee to apply for Associate Certification with the Orton-Gillingham Academy.
