This training follows the Associate curriculum and guidelines set forth by the Orton-Gillingham Academy. The training includes student teaching which allows teachers to practice skills with a student while being observed and critiqued. In addition to coursework hours the training includes follow-up observations and consultation throughout the following year. The instructional content is specifically designed to address the needs of the elementary-aged student who exhibits reading and language learning difficulties. The course fee includes four textbooks, a training binder, a screening evaluation binder, and a phono card deck.
For those wishing to apply for membership in the Academy at the Associate level, a practicum is required. Participation in a practicum can be arranged for an additional fee after the participant successfully completes all training requirements.
