Orton-Gillingham Training – Associate Level.  This 82.5 hour course and a 100 hours practicum fills the Associate level. This course provides a rich collection of resources, including digital, downloadable slides and handouts for each session, as well as Independent Learning Modules between classes that consist of pre-recorded videos, support materials, interactive games, sample lesson plans, and recorded lessons. Attendees will have access to these materials for one month after the course ends, with the option to extend access. Supplemental card decks and magnetic tiles with whiteboard are available for purchase, but not required.

Practicum: A practicum can be arranged on an individual basis after successful completion of Associate  coursework and assignments. There is a minimum requirement of 100 hours of supervised practicum with at least ten direct observations of the trainee teaching an entire lesson to a student 1:1 spread out over the course of at least eight months. Up to 30 hours/3 observations MAY be of a small group (2-3 students) with permission from the Fellow. Observations can be conducted on-site, unedited video or web-based application. Sessions must be a minimum of twice a week on non-consecutive days. The observations can be spread out further but cannot be shorter than eight months. Trainees should start their practicums as soon as possible after training (within 2-3 months). There are weekly group support meetings for all trainees throughout the practicum.
